Wire and Cable Cutting and Stripping Machines

Cutting and stripping is the first operation on every harness line: a wire is measured, cut to length, and its insulation removed at one or both ends. Turing builds these machines in Dongguan across a range that starts at bench-top pneumatic units and ends at computerised cut-strip machines running automatic production. The determining variables are cross-section, cut-length tolerance, strip geometry, and whether the conductor must stay untwisted. Cut-length tolerance on our computerised models is held to ± 0.4%.

Blades or rotary knives cut into insulation with a depth set relative to the conductor; the depth setting, not the blade speed, decides whether strands are nicked. Rotary-knife heads handle multi-core and jacketed cable where a straight blade would crush the core.

Choosing within this family

Start from the terminal, not the machine.

A crimping press in the next family sets the applicator, and the applicator sets the strip length. Specify strip length first.

Depth control is the quality variable.

Blade depth is set relative to conductor diameter; over-penetration nicks strands and shows up later as a pull-force failure, not as a visual defect.

Cross-section decides the head.

Bench-top pneumatic heads reach fine single-core wire; rotary-knife heads are required once the cable has a jacket, a braid or multiple cores.

How many changeovers per shift?

Mixed low-volume production usually beats a programmable machine on cost; the same mix on a high-volume line does not.

It depends on the head, not the frame. Our range covers fine single-core wire through 120 mm² (AWG 8-0000) on the TR-8120 wire stripping and coiling machine. Rotary-knife machines are used where the cable has a jacket or a braid. Give us the cross-section and construction and we will confirm which head applies.
A straight blade suits single-core wire with a clean circular section and gives the tightest strip-length repeatability. A rotary knife suits jacketed, multi-core and braided cable, where a straight blade would deform the core before it cuts the insulation.
Our computerised models hold ± 0.4 %. On pneumatic operator-fed machines the tolerance depends on the operator and the feed stop rather than on the control, so the band is wider.
Yes on automatic models, with independent front and tail strip lengths. On the TR-8120 the front side runs 1–800 mm and the tail side 1–400 mm.
