Harness Assembly, Tinning and Auxiliary Production Machines
Not every operation on a harness line is cutting, crimping or taping. This family covers the operations that sit before and after termination and the production lines that build the surrounding components: hot-dip tinning of stranded ends, component assembly, adhesive dispensing, foaming, boxing and arranging, and battery pack assembly lines. They are specified differently from the main line — usually by cycle time per station and by how many operations a single operator can supervise. Hot-dip tinning is used where a stranded end must be closed before it enters a screw clamp or a soldered joint, because bare strands spread and unwind under torque.

Tinning is a material decision before it is a machine decision.
Solder alloy, flux type and bath temperature are set by the terminal or the subsequent process.
Decide where inspection sits.
On a configured line, inspection can be a station or an in-line function; the choice changes the station count.
Tooling changeover follows product changeover.
If the line makes more than one product, changeover time becomes a specification, not a detail.
Auxiliary equipment should not set the line takt.
If a configured line is paced by its slowest auxiliary station, the line is mis-sized.
